Antique ormolu mermaid wall gas sconce, ideal conversion to electricity project

A stunning and high quality antique ormolu wall sconce in the form of a mermaid holding a torch. Of gilt bronze, this amazing light fitting was originally a gas lamp, now partially converted for electricity with a bulb holder with the addition of a bulb holder. Of large size, it projects 38cm from the wall.

A very substantial piece at 2.67kg. Most gilt remains apart from areas around the chest, neck and arms. The sconce was formerly a gas light. It will require work to complete a conversion to electricity.

A method of wall fixing will need to be devised in order for the sconce to be wall mounted - there is a threaded spigot that could be used or maybe a wooden plinth and securing ring could be turned. Length or projection: 38 cm (15).
