It is a solid thick solid glass shade that fits firmly into place. There are some minor discrepancies a nd is in great condition for the age.
Two minor things to point out that I almost missed. The right side etching has some wear if you look at the picture then at the bottom of the glass is a very common hairline mark from using high heat bulbs. This is found on almost all the glass this old and is not threat. I did not see it until wet and is very normal and stable. Nothing in the market today will do what these beautiful fixtures do to bring out the beauty of your home.
Also there are four in a separate listing with lite amber shades if interested please look. They measure approximately 12 tall by 5.5 wide and 4 1/2 depth.
All mounting hardware is included, all electrical has been update with UL approved products. The sockets can easily handle 100 watts, but we recommend a limit of 60 - 65 watts if incandescent bulbs are to be used.
This is to protect the slip shades from excessive heat. Greater light output can be obtained by using energy efficient LED or compact fluorescent light bulbs. These types of light bulbs operate at cooler temperatures, and do not emit as much heat as incandescent. Many thanks to you for taking the time to look at these beautiful fixtures that are truly pieces of art. Many things are made now with cheap materials and they are made to only last for a little while. These old fixture are made with detail and with strong materials to last a lifetime. Lighting is a great addition to your homes décor and it is very important to the homes value and beauty.
