Vintage Antique Huge Art Deco Yellow Bronze Wall Sconce Pair Restored 21.5 Tall
1920's Huge wall sconce lights made of yellow bronze with leaded glass. As shown in the photos, the bronze work on this pair of lights is absolutely stunning in it's rich detailed design.
Lots of scroll work and florals surrounding three cherubs and large griffins on either side of the sconces. The photo of the back shows the maker's mark VP. They light up beautifully, but are equally impressive when not lit. Each pane of the glass is intact, so there are not empty spaces.
The outside panels on each side of each of the sconces has been replaced with high quality acrylic in a frosted look. I assume one broke and it would be almost impossible to replace the original bent glass panes, so the acrylic has been leaded in. (See close up photo) They have new sockets, which have been wired and tested. They will be extremely well packed! This pair of sconces, we attained through family of the original owner.
It was told to us at that time that they originally hung in a Speak Easy in East St. Measurements: Length: 21 1/2" total length Width: 9" Projection from wall: 4 3/4" diameter Back plates measure: 4" by 3 Details: They have leaded glass doors in the textured amber glass that cover the interior. One of the glass doors has a crack in it, but is holding securely and does not show, because it is behind the large bronze top design. There is one tiny ding in one of the purple glass pieces, it is small not a crack or break, glass is secure. The sconces do show some silver leading where the large bronze piece is leaded to the leaded glass portion of the light. It is a bit of silver showing on the bronze, where they attach. I have close up photos of these things and will be happy to send more photos, for further inspection. They each take one standard medium base light bulb, up to 60 watts. If you prefer more light you may choose to use and LED bulb which will provide more light with less wattage and heat. If you would like to see more photos or have questions, please let me know.
